PR003: Announcing two new partnerships and reminding you of the power of hope.
New Orleans, LAJuly 16, 2024
Today, Well Kept Secret is proud to announce two new partnerships.
We’re also eager to remind you that, even in a world filled with turmoil and grief, art still matters and is still worthy of our attention and support!
First, we’d love to introduce you to Max Bien Kahn, a New Orleans artist that, if pressed, could be described as “folk”. Our favorite description comes from his bio, where Max describes a prompt for a song on the new album: “What if Suicide made a folk song?” Max is emblematic of the roots scene in New Orleans: talented, generous and sincere musicians making art that really wouldn’t fit anywhere else. We think you’ll love his new music.
Finally, a band that likely needs no introduction to many of you- a rock sensation from the great state of Alabama: Carver Commodore. Today, you can hear their new single WAVE. Don’t let it pass you by! You can also catch them out on the road, where they basically live at this point. We’ve been admirers of their work ethic and creativity from day one and we are thrilled to welcome them into the Well Kept cavalcade of stars.
Perhaps you are out there in the world, confused about the future, upset about where things are heading. Do you feel hopeless? Defeated? Frustrated? Take that feeling to your local record store and see what they prescribe you. That’s what we’re gonna do.
PR002: Announcing The Rumble, the now sound of New Orleans.
New Orleans, LAJune 28, 2024
Let’s keep this simple. Well Kept Secret is proud to officially announce our partnership with The Rumble. The Rumble, featuring Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr., is the most exciting new band to emerge from New Orleans in years. In fact, their first release as a band was a live record from a performance at the famous Maple Leaf Bar-- and it was nominated for a GRAMMY Award.
The Rumble is more than just a band—it's an opportunity to be immersed in a wholly unique facet of New Orleans culture. Composed of Second Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. of the Golden Eagles, trumpeter Aurélien Barnes, trombonist José Maize Jr., bassist TJ Norris, guitarist Ari Teitel, keyboardist Andriu Yanovski, and drummer Trenton O’Neal, the group fuses iconic New Orleans funk in the vein of The Meters and The Neville Brothers—but updated, modern and vibrant befitting the next generation—with electrifying brass and the singular visual splendor of the Black Masking carnival tradition.
We will be announcing more from The Rumble very soon. For now, you can stream their latest single, “Now You Know” at your favorite service. We happen to think that the absolute best way to experience this band is live, so we’re also happy to share some tour dates with you. A word of wisdom: do not miss the chance to see this band.

PR001: Well Kept Secret announces a partnership with Dial Back Sound.
New Orleans, LA
Water Valley, MS

Well Kept Secret is proud to announce a partnership with acclaimed Mississippi independent record label and recording studio Dial Back Sound.
Dial Back Sound is a recording studio owned by Matt Patton (Drive By Truckers, The Dexateens, Model Citizen), located in Water Valley, Mississippi. The studio was opened in 2009 by producer Bruce Watson. Patton began frequenting the studio as a session bassist early on and later began producing, eventually purchasing the studio in 2016.
Dial Back Sound launched a label of the same name in 2018, releasing records from artists like Jerry Joseph, Hans Condor, The Great Dying and Model Citizen.
Among the artists, producers, and engineers that have worked at Dial Back Sound are Bruce Watson, Simone Felice, Clay Jones, Tim Kerr, Patterson Hood, Laura Jane Grace, Leo Bud Welch, The Seratones, A. A. Bondy, Thomas Dollbaum and MJ Lenderman.
"Teaming up with Reed and Well Kept Secret seemed like a no brainer," Dial Back Sound owner Matt Patton said. "My growing label needed meaningful distribution services. Having the advice from someone who has been solely focused on the label business for years is great for filling in the gaps of my own trial and error learning. After all, running a small label is a big job!"
Well Kept Secret was founded to partner with people like Matt Patton", founder Reed Watson added. "He does incredible work in a very special part of the world and he does it with integrity. I want more people to know about it, and through this partnership, we're aiming to do just that."
